Record books of Justices of the Peace, 1807-1863.

This artificial collection consists of five record books documenting legal matters handled by justices of the peace in southeastern Pennsylvania. The first volume contains abstracts of summonses for Bethel Twp., Lebanon County from 1843 to 1863. The second volume was used in Earl Twp., Lancaster County from 1818 to 1823. Entries list names of parties involved in a dispute and a one to two word description of the type of dispute. The third volume is identified as a docket book and was used by Frederick W. Martin to write down extracts of the cases he heard in Fredericksburg, Lebanon County from 1821 to 1834. The fourth volume documents pleas in Womelsdorf, Berks Co. from 1834 to 1836. The fifth volume also features extracts of cases heard in Myerstown, Dauphin County from 1807 to 1811.
